Handbag Designers Spring/Summer 2008 – about Radley

Although I do not like the Radley handbag and the Radley purse unconditionally, some handbags their current collection are quite nice. I think my problem with Radley handbags is that I am not their target audience. Their bags and purses seem too safe and fondly enough – not at all rock’n roll to me – and I am an old Rock chick deep down in my heart. Basically although they seem to be very good quality, they are mostly a little boring.

Some handbags I have found that I do like though, like for example the pretty red slouchy “Soho” bag and the dark brown “Bloomsbury” bag. Above is my selection:

Handbag Designers Spring/Summer 2008 – about Chanel

Now I have been intending to lend my pen to the latest Chanel handbag collection for some time. In some details the Chanel handbags remind me a lot of the Marc Jacobs collection – the most obvious aspect for me is the quilted look many of the Chanel handbags share with the Marc Jacobs collection – or in fact many designer handbags this season.

On the Chanel website the 2008 handbag collections are split into four: The “Spring-Summer 2008 pre-collection”, the Cruise 2007/2008 collection, the “classics collection” (which I am not too keen on) and the normal “Spring-Summer collection”. I imagine the pre-collection is kind of the spring 2008 handbags collection and the normal one is really the Chanel handbags summer 2008 collection.

Orla Kiely Handbags - take 2!

Really I have to say, as I already mentioned in the Orla Kiely designer profile, I am not the biggest fan of Orla Kiely Handbags with heavy patterns. But some of her new prints are less ugly sixties wallpaper and actually pretty.

An example of a pretty Orla Kiely handbag for me is the Rowan Tree Small Tote, an Orla Kiely handbag I would not actually mind owning! It is available in either blue or red and has been reduced (something I like the sound of very much) from £85 to £51. Still a little dear for something that is essentially a shopping bag…

Handbag Designers Spring/Summer 2008 – about Chloe

You cannot talk about Chloe handbags without mentioning the famous Chloe Paddington bag, but they have not stood still since that famous design!

Chloe’s spring 2008 handbags span a wide range of influences. A couple have Padlocks like the Paddington, they embrace asymmetric design, the metallic and croco trends, bright colours and designs! Despite all these differences the Chloe handbags from the spring range still seem to share a common denominator. Clear and simple elegant but not too fine outlines without too much schnick-schnack.(Click on the image to view the summer collection!)

Handbag Designers Spring/Summer 2008 about Billy Bag

Until today I had no idea, but I love Billy Bag handbags!
It started off with me on a mission for a green handbag because I have just bought some new Red or Dead glasses and they are grass green so of course I need a green handbag to match them!
Browsing online, I stumbled over these Billy Bag handbags – all in different hues of green and all pretty funky in my opinion!

Handbag Designers Spring/Summer 2008 – about Luella

Luella Bartley is a British fashion and handbag designer who left the UK for the US and launched the Luella designer label in 1999. She was based in New York for six years, but returned to London in September/October 2007 for London Fashion Week and to open her new London store. Luella Bartley designs fashion clothing and bags.

Obviously it is the bags that I am interested in!
Luella’s website has got some great sales going on – but the small wallet can only afford buying exactly that – a wallet. Have a look!

Handbag Designers Spring/Summer 2008 – about LeSportsac

LeSportsac, Inc. started in 1974, as an accessories company that introduced a collection of fold-in-a-pouch ripstop parachute nylon bags and luggage.

Gwen Stefani started off designing handbags for "LeSportsac" before she started her fashion range. Although she does not design handbags for them anymore, her designs are still popular and can sometimes be snapped up on e-Bay.

LeSportsac’s classic handbag range 2008 does not have designs by Gwen Stefani, but still some pretty exciting ones: You can pick a handbag shape first and then the handbag design or first the handbag design and then the handbag shape.
