Guess - Handbags Designers Fall/Winter 08/09

Guess handbags are really pretty close up. Something I have never really realised. I have to admit that they are not necessarily exactly my style, but I can understand why someone would find them appealing.

Guess are not purely a handbag brand, they are also famous for their other fashion items – besides clothing especially their watches and jewellery are worth a mention. Guess was founded by Georges, Armand, Paul, and Maurice Marciano, four brothers born in Ouarzazate Morocco but who supposedly grew up in the south of France and were influenced by the culture and style in the region. They moved to California in 1977 and founded the company in 1981.
Here are some handbags that you can currently buy online – one even as new as from the Fall/Winter 2009 collection!! From top left in clockwise order:

Chiarugi - Handbag Designers Fall Winter 2008

Sometimes bags don’t have to be colourful. This week I have grown especially fond of the Chiarugi handbags in brown leather. Maybe it is an autumnal being stirring inside me or something like that, but all week I have been looking at people wearing brown things and carrying brown bags, hell, I have even bought myself some wooden jewellery in my obsession.

For me these brown leather bags represent Italian elegance. Somehow they just make you look classy (as long as the rest of your outfit gives them a chance). They do not scream “Look at me”, no, they whisper it in a very seductive way.

The Chiarugi handbags are extra special, because Chiarugi use only the finest Italian vegetable tanned hides. All items are handmade in Florence in Italy and have been so since 1969.

John Galliano – Handbag Designers Autumn Winter 2008

To be honest this is the first time for me checking out John Galliano handbags online so I cannot compare what I see to any of his old handbag collections. It did not take long to make me an instant fan though! I love the newspaper prints that remind me that: “In 2000, he said that he also had found his inspiration for the couture collection of boho-meets-hobo chic he unveiled that January during his jogging sessions, when running past the homeless people lining the river” I think a lot of that still reflects in the current collection. I like that the bags are very expressive and lively and that the words”John” and “Galliano” are not blatant but sneak in all over the place. Subtle yet distinctive!

Vivienne Westwood - Handbag Designers Autumn Winter 2008

It has been some time since I have looked at an individual handbag designer. Today I want to have a look at one of the most exciting designers in the history of London – namely Vivienne West wood. Now as is to be expected, Vivienne Westwood handbags are not made for someone with a small purse. So if your purse is not massive – like mine – you will have to stick with one of her perfumes like Boudoir, which is a firm winter evening favourite of mine.

Same as the Boudoir flacon, many of Vivienne’s Bags have her very visual and individual label on them – the large golden Orb that any fashionista will instantly recognise. Another one of her trademarks is the unmistakable tartan pattern, she uses on her handbags and the bowling bag shape combined with funky design.
