Is the celebrity “It Bag” going out of fashion?

It seems that the winds of change have started blowing in the world of celebrity endorsed designer handbags. And maybe not just in the world of celebrity endorsed designer handbags but in the fashion world in general – judging by the lack of on storm on the Topshop outlets following the release of the new Kate Moss collection on Tuesday 18th March 2008 – namely yesterday.

Personally I do not think the collection is all that bad – and I am excited to find myself the owner of a black “strappy cocktail dress” lookalike with a Kookai tag that I bought in a Charity shop last year for a Fiver – Bargain!!

Anyways… I am trailing off… According to Mintel, the global supplier of consumer, media and market research, the appearance of the Anya Hindmarch eco-friendly cotton bag with the slogan "I'm not a plastic bag" that flew off the shelves last year and was proudly sported by the likes of Keira Knightley and Lily Allen - despite costing just 5 quid – has marked the turning point in attitude.

A bag is not necessarily desirable because of the price tag anymore – partly because these days the must-have handbag looks are quickly translated to the high street. Another point is that other values have become desirable besides the display of wealth – such as environmental conscience. Personally I applaud this development.

Therefore in my future posts I want to look at replica or designer inspired lookalike handbags that do not tear an unreasonable hole in your wallet but still make you look hot and round up your outfit nicely. I also want to pay more attention toward environmentally friendly handbags and a way how we can keep our 111 Sienna Miller habit eco-friendly…

Watch this space I say!
